LUCKNOW: UP director general of police (DGP) OP Singh on Mondy emphasised imparting soft skill development training to police personnel while praising the Saharanpur cop for saving a man’s life even after being informed about his daughter’s death.

Addressing the ‘Sammanbhuti aur Samman, UP Police Ki Shan’ workshop organised by the UP Police and a private organisation to impart soft skills development training to cops . Singh said, “In the police department, training for hard skills development is a regular feature. However, behavioural training is not conducted. Soft skills development training is also necessary for police personnel.”

Citing the recent Saharanpur incident that brought fame to the UP Police, Singh said, “A cop in Saharanpur took a seriously injured man to hospital even after his family members informed him about his daughter’s death over phone. His selfless act made the entire police department proud.”

To recall, head constable Bhupendra Tomar, 57, was on his usual duty on February 23, when he received information that a man lying on a road had been stabbed multiple times.

“In a bid to ensure that such shameful incidents do not occur, soft skills development training programmes for cops will be organised all across the state,” said the DGP.

On the occasion, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Lucknow, Deepak Kumar, and other senior police officials were also present.
