Thrilling wins mark Khayyami cricket league

LUCKNOW: It was a day of thrilling wins in the 2nd Sagar Khayyami Memorial cricket league here on Monday as LDA Coaching Centre defeated Dhruv Cricket Academy by three wickets, whereas Northern Railway defeated UP Timber Club by two wickets.

At the LDA stadium, hosts LDACC with the help of Zeeshan Ansari (3/32) and Manish Sharma (3/35) restricted DCA for 163/9 in 45 overs first and then reached home in 42 overs for the loss of seven wickets.

Things weren’t different at the Chowk stadium too as Northern Railway after skittling out UPTC for 201 in 38.1 overs, managed to achieve the target with one ball to spare.

STATE FOOTBALL

The Under-16 sub-junior state football tournament will be held from March 14 to 21 at the Bahraich sports stadium in Bahraich. Trials to select Lucknow team will take place on March 9 and 10, at the Chowk stadium here. Players registered with the district football associatio­n are eligible to participat­e in the trials, states, DFA secretary Kanhaya Lal. Meanwhile, Lucknow girls had to split points with Sahjahanpu­r after playing 1-1 draw in the state under-19 football tournament at Barabanki on Monday. Saniya put Sahjahanpu­r into lead in the 15th minute (1-0), before Sapna (50th) restored parity for Lucknow.

HANDBALL TEAM

Uttar Pradesh Handball Associatio­n on Monday announced its 20-member team for the 46th senior men’s national championsh­ip, scheduled to be held from March 6 to 11 at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

The team included, Akash Gupta, Sachin Shukla, Ankit Srivastava, Rahul Dubey, Bharat Bharti, Aditya Yadav, Amit Jaiswal, Bhupinder Kumar, Vikas Upadhyay, Gurdeep Khattri, Rahul Verma, Amar Yadav, Jai Singh, Mohit Yadav, Santosh, Tauheed, Raju Kashyap, Ram Kumar, Shikhar Jaiswal and Shubham Rai.
