UP changing under Yogi: Goyal
ALLAHABAD: Union railway minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday Uttar Pradesh would soon give competition to Maharashtra in terms of progress and development.
He said investors in a recently held meet in Lucknow had pledged to invest more money in the state than even UP’s entire budget and the new industries would bring huge number of jobs for the youth.
Addressing traders and businessmen at ‘Vyapari Samagam’ in Jhunsi on sidelines of the Phulpur bypolls, Goyal expressed confidence that BJP candidate Kaushalendra Singh will sweep the bypolls and contribute to the development of the area.
He said the railways was also in the process of substantially increasing its investment in the state in the coming days and that there were plans afoot for hiking these investments by a whopping five times.
“Before the start of Kumbh2019, all railway stations of Allahabad would don a new look with better facilities and infrastructure. We are also planning to increase the capacity of the railway coach factory at Rae Bareli significantly,” he added.
Goyal said traders had heaved a sigh of relief since Yogi Adityanath has taken over as the state’s chief minister as they were now able to do business in a fear free environment.
“The law and order situation is back on track now and it is time for the traders to make most of the opportunities. Tax on over 400 items have been decreased and is also bringing the licence raj in the state to an end. GST will make trade easier,” he claimed.
On the support extended by BSP to SP in the bypolls, Goyal said the elephant (BSP symbol) was trying to ride on a punctured bicycle (SP symbol) and was bound to fail.
