Yogi urges judicial officers to bring down pending cases
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday urged judicial officers to take the initiative to drastically bring down the number of pending cases in courts.
Yogi supported Allahabad high court chief justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale’s decision to increase time for judicial work by half an hour and said judicial officers should come forward for such initiatives.
“This can be very useful,” said the chief minister while pointing out that his government’s decision to scrap 15 holidays observed in the name of leaders had contributed to the state’s GDP by Rs 50,000 crore.
Yogi was speaking at the inaugural session of the 41st convention of Uttar Pradesh Judicial Services’ Association in the presence of the chief justice here.
The chief minister said the state government had taken a number of “effective” steps to strengthen judicial system in the state.
He said success of democracy depended on independent and strong judicial system adding that the state government would extend all necessary help to the judiciary to ensure expeditious justice.
Yogi said 111 additional family courts, 13 land acquisition courts, 13 commercial and 24 new lok adalat’s had been set up in the state. He also announced Rs 10 crore for UP Judicial Officers’ Welfare Fund.
