LUCKNOW: For detection of crimes, 18 basic cyber forensic laboratories will be set up at range levels in UP under this scheme and three domain experts will be hired in each range for speedy investigation.
LUCKNOW:The UP police have initiated the Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children scheme (CCPWC) to curb incidents of cyber stalking, harassment and other crimes against women and minors through Internet and mobile communications.
For detection of such crimes, 18 basic cyber forensic laboratories will be set up at range levels in UP under this scheme and three domain experts will be hired in each range for speedy and effective investigation.
UP director general of police OP Singh had asked the police top brass to chalk out a detailed work plan under this scheme after holding a marathon meeting over the issue on Saturday. He said the CCPWC scheme was initiated after seeing a sudden spurt in cyber crime incidents. “And mostly women and children fall prey to such incidents,” he added.
Additional DGP of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Police Academy, Moradabad, Sunil Kumar Gupta has been made nodal officer to chalk out the work plan after consultation with other Special Task Force officers and cyber crime experts, said Singh.
He said a training programme will be organised for police personnel under the scheme and help will be sought from experts of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur for the training.
He said 18 basic cyber forensic labs will be set up at range levels and domain experts will be hired for better investigation of cyber crime. The hiring of domain experts will help police to learn collecting digital and cyber evidences. Moreover, a cyber cell will be constituted under the supervision of ASPs or Dy SPs at district levels for proper registration

of cyber crimes, he emphasised. The DGP said it is often seen that police officers often have difficulty in coordinating with other states’ cops in case of cyber crime incidents. For this, an inter-state cyber crime coordination cell will be formed under the supervision of additional DGP (crime) Chandra Prakash and its works will be coordinated with other state agencies or central agencies in cyber crime investigations, he added. He said two existing cyber crime police stations in Noida and Lucknow will be upgraded to enhance skills of police personnel investigating such cases. He said inspector general (IG) of police, Special Task Force, Amitabh Yash has been made state cyber crime coordinator to curb such incidents.
