LDA starts selling its rented properties
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has decided to sell off its residential properties rented out to tenants for the past several decades. These properties are located all across the city.
As part of the initiative to sell off its rented properties, the development authority has organised a special registry camp at its Gomti Nagar office. Started on March 10, the camp will continue till March 25.
The development authority has decided to sell off these properties as it gets very less money as rent from these properties as compared to its market value.
“These properties were rented out around three to four decades ago. Even today, the development authority gets rent based on the market value of that time,” said a senior LDA official.
So, the development authority would be in a better financial situation if it sells these properties and generates revenue for its projects, added the official.
“Selling these residential properties is the only option left before the development authority,” he pointed out.
The development authority’s properties are spread all across the city and Napier Road Colony, Kapoorthala Complex, Pandey Ka Talab, Balda Road Colony, Lalkuan, Paper Mill Colony, Akbari Gate, Tilak Nagar, Chowk, Billochpura, Lawrence Terrace, Aishbagh and Hata Khuda Baksh are those areas where some of the LDA’s rented properties are under illegal possession.
“The LDA is organising a special camp at its Gomti Nagar office for tenants of its rented properties. Main purpose of this camp is to sell off its rented properties. Tenants can approach the LDA officials at the camp to start the process of purchasing their rented properties,” said Ashok Pal Singh, public relation officer, LDA.
Another issue worrying the development authority is that many of its properties are under illegal possession.
According to LDA officials, around 550 of its properties are illegally occupied.
It may be pointed out that around 150 files of the LDA’s rented properties are also missing. The development authority is still clueless about these missing files.
The issue came to light last week and the development authority has not been able to trace out these files. Rajiv Kumar, officer on special duty, LDA, is probing the case.
