‘Thank you Varanasi’, tweets Macron
VARANASI: After being accorded a warm welcome during his visit to Varanasi, French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday posted a tweet thanking the people of the city. ‘Thank you Varanasi!’ Macron tweeted, sharing a video of his visit to the city with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you Banaras for the welcome, thank you for your presence during my visit with Prime Minister Modi,” Macron said in the video message.

‘Thank you Varanasi!’ Macron tweeted, sharing a video of his visit to the city with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you Banaras for the welcome, thank you for your presence during my visit with Prime Minister Modi,” Macron said in the video message. “French and Indian flags were all over the streets in Varanasi yesterday. Your enthusiasm and your presence reflect the vitality and friendship between our two countries,” he said. “With my wife, I spent three marvellous days in India and I wanted to thank Prime Minister Modi for the warm welcome,” Macron said.“We worked very hard and decided on strategic partnership and decisions on security, economic, energy and environment point of view. We launched international solar alliance which is a great achievement,” Macron said.Before leaving for Paris, the French President appealed to Indians, including students, engineers, entrepreneurs and leaders, to choose France.
Macron promised he would make France an entry point for Indians in Europe. In another video message, Macron spoke about his interaction with students in New Delhi and his visit to Taj Mahal. The people of Varanasi extended a traditional welcome – replete with the glimpses of Indian culture and religion – to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron as they visited the ghats and enjoyed a boat ride in the Ganga on Monday. During the boat ride, Modi and Macron, accompanied by UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, passed through a number of ghats witnessing religious and cultural programmes like Ramlila, discourses, musical and dance performances, and works of art.
