use of funds by government departments to make his point. He said the new budget was full of central schemes and the state government had failed to bring new ones.

While the Centre did not give sufficient funds to Uttar Pradesh during the Samajwadi Party (SP) regime it was providing more funds now, he said.

Chaudhary said the state government had failed to bring about an improvement in the law and order situation and there was a difference between its actions and words.

He listed the Jai Prakash Narain International Centre, Metro Rail and Agra-Lucknow Expressway as major projects of the Akhilesh Yadav government and said the BJP regime had re-inaugurated many of these projects. He said the development works initiated during the Akhilesh Yadav government had come to a stop due to inquiries by the BJP government. He claimed debt-ridden farmers were committing suicides. The Yogi government was following in the footsteps of the Centre in protecting the interests of industrialists, he said.

BSP legislature party leader Lalji Verma said the BJP government failed to keep the promises to people, adding that this amounted to ‘emotional corruption’.
