LUCKNOW: Three ultrasound machines were sealed at a diagnostic centre here on Thursday, said health officials.

During inspection in a a private diagnostic centre in Indira Nagar, the officials sealed two machines and then spotted another one lying unused.

“Lifecare Diagnostics had permission for two machines but three were found,” said Dr Rajendra Chaudhary, additional CMO and member of the team.

The owners said the third machine was for demo but prior permission from authorities is mandatory for demo machine also, which was not taken.

“The application was moved on March 13, which was impractical as permission in one day is not possible,” said Dr Chaudhary.

The machines were sealed under the Pre-Conception PreNatal Diagnostic Technique Act by the district PCPNDT committee. Special powers were delegated by DG, family welfare, to the team to seal machines.

According to the officials, they first visited an ultrasound centre Yashoda Diagnostics in Bakshi Ka Talab but no major anomalies were found.

The owner had not filled form-F ( that has patients’ details) for the day, hence an explanation was sought.
