Woman found dead in mysterious circumstances, husband’s role suspected
LUCKNOW : A 30-year-old woman Sarita Singh, who worked as outsourced sanitation staff at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house in Indira Nagar’s Panthnagar locality here on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
SSP Deepak Kumar said, “The post-mortem examination report suggested ante-mortem hanging which means she probably committed suicide, but her viscera has been preserved for further probe.” However, the police have not ruled out foul play in her death and suspected the involvement of the woman’s estranged husband Dinesh Singh who is missing after the incident.
Inspector of Indira Nagar police station, Mukul Prakash Verma said Sarita had strained relations with her husband for the past few years following which she left his house in Sitapur and started living in Lucknow’s Indira Nagar locality along with her two sons Anurag, 8, and Krishna, 7. He said the woman’s other relatives including her sister Savita also stays in the same locality.
The inspector said Dinesh had come to meet Sarita and his sons and was staying with them for last one week. He said Dinesh was pressurising Sarita to return to Sitapur as he allegedly suspected of her having relationship with other men and finally left the house on Saturday evening after failing to convince her to return home. He said Sarita and her two sons slept after having meal in the night after Dinesh left.
“The woman’s two sons woke up at around midnight to find her lying dead on the bed. The boys later informed about it to their aunt Savita who informed the police,” said Verma.
He said a team was sent to Dinesh’s native place in Sitapur but he was found missing from there. He said Dinesh’s close relative Shyam Karan was also found missing from his house. The disappearance of both persons after the incident has brought them under suspicion, he added.
The inspector said it is suspected that Dinesh may have returned in the night and strangulated his wife. He said some other youths who were frequent visitors to Sarita’s house had also been taken into custody for interrogation and detailed investigation is on. He said efforts are on to find the woman’s husband.
