K Sports in Challenger Cup final

LUCKNOW: K Sports stormed into the final of the 2nd Shivpal Sawariya Twenty20 Challenger Cup cricket tournament, defeating Lucknow Colts Red by four wickets, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari stadium here on Monday. Needing 139, K Sports romped home in 19 overs.

Lucknow Colts Red 138 for 9 in 20 overs (Vishal Singh 47, Surendra Kumar 3 for 15, Vikas Pradhan 2 for 23, J Yadav 2 for 35) lost to K Sports 142 for 6 in 19 overs (Anand Srivastava 33, Shivli Yadav 24, Arsh Patra 2 for 27).

DCA IN SEMIS

Dhruv Cricket Academy made it to the semi-finals of the Asif Ali Memorial cricket tournament, defeating Youth Cricket Club by four wickets, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium in Barabanki on Monday.

NCR WIN

North Central Railway continued their winning streak in the 63rd All India Inter-Railway cricket tournament even on Monday, defeating WCR Jabalpur by seven wickets in a league match, at the Chowk stadium here. After restrictin­g WCR for paltry 98 for 6 in 20 overs, NCR romped home in 15 overs, losing just three wickets. In other matches of the day, MCF defeated Railway Board by 79 runs, and ECR Hajipur defeated SECR Bilaspur by seven wickets.

PARAS EXCELS

Offie Paras Nath took a record seven wickets for 47 runs and fashioned UP Rangers Cricket Club’s emphatic 46-run win against Friends Club in a C division cricket league match, at the Sports College ground here on Monday. In other match of the day, Chauhan Sporting defeated KD Singh Babu Trainees XI by nine wickets.

As many as four trainees of Raizwan at the KD Singh ‘babu’ stadium have been picked up in the state team for the forthcomin­g senior national taekwondo championsh­ip, scheduled to be held from March 22 to 25 at Pune. They players are: Kunjal Pandey, Khansa Jameel, Maheen Nawaz and Khushi Singh.
