Soon: Get van, driver info with a click
LUCKNOW: Parents will soon be able to find details of van drivers attached with educational institutions in the state capital on a website.
Under the initiative, police verification of van and bus drivers will be carried out and all details will be available at the district administration’s website. Special software will be prepared for it.
Roshan Jacob, district magistrate, Bulandshahr, has already implemented the scheme and named it ‘Mission Bharosa’.
A single software platform, Mission Bharosa is a programme for registration of vehicles used for ferrying school children. Along with the vehicles, the software provides all details of school van and bus drivers.
“The Mission Bharosa is a project that puts together vehicle and driver certification data and character verification of the driver, conductor on an open web based platform,” said Alok Singh, the man whose software is being used by the district administration of Bulandshahr.
In Bulandshahr, parents could easily check all details related with the van or bus ferrying their children online at missionbharosa.org.
It enables parents to check whether the vehicles that are ferrying their children to schools are not rickety and the driver does not have any criminal record. The data has also come handy for the Regional Transport Office and the district police, Bulandshahr.
In the state capital, the project will be implemented in all schools. However, its name might be changed.
Drivers of all vehicles will also be issued a smart card. This card will have details of the driver, including his name, address, vehicle’s registration number, mobile number and vehicle owner’s name.
It will also have the educational institution’s name where the vehicle is attached for ferrying students.
“We are planning to roll out the project in coming April-May when all schools will be close for summer vacation. We will collect data of van drivers from all schools and hand it over to the IT department of the state government for uploading it on the district administration’s website,” said Kaushal Raj Sharma, district magistrate, Lucknow.
According to officials of the district administration, it would be compulsory for all van and bus drivers to complete their police verification and also verification of their vehicles from the regional transport office, which includes fitness certificate of the vehicle.
