HC seeks AAP govt’s reply on Shahbuddin’s plea

NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Wednesday sought a response of the AAP government on a plea filed by former RJD MP and controvers­ial leader Mohammad Shahbuddin challengin­g his solitary confinemen­t at Tihar jail. A bench issued notice and asked to file the counter affidavit within three weeks, listing the matter for further hearing on April 27. Shahabuddi­n was shifted to Tihar jail here from a jail in Siwan, Bihar, after orders of Supreme Court. Appearing for the petitioner, his counsel, senior advocate Amarendra Sharan, said his client has been kept in solitary confinemen­t and is being subjected to custodial torture.
