GERMAN PREZ TO VISIT KASHI TODAY
VARANASI: The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Varanasi on Thursday.
Steinmeier is also scheduled to visit Sarnath and have an interaction with students at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
District magistrate Yogeshwar Ram Mishra inspected the ghats and said preparations had been completed for the German President’s visit.
He said police had been asked to maintain a strict vigil.
According to district administration officials, Steinmeier will reach Varanasi before noon. “During his Sarnath visit, he will watch the site where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon.
He will also visit Dhamek Stupa. In the afternoon, he will have interaction with BHU students. He will enjoy boating from Assi ghat to Dashashwamedh ghat and also attend ‘Ganga aarti’,” an official said.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will welcome the German President at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport.
