RJD leader posts Yogi’s morphed pic on FB, held

MOTIHARI: A team of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday arrested an RJD leader from Chiraiya near Motihari, 150 km north of Patna, for allegedly posting a “morphed and obscene photograph of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath” and making objectiona­ble comments about him on Facebook on March 9, 2018.

The arrested persons, Rahul Yadav, is district president of the disaster management cell of the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Talking to HT, inspector Santosh Kumar, head of the STF team, said the UP police had registered a case against three persons, including Rahul Yadav, under various sections of IPC for impersonat­ion, identity theft, creating forged documents through morphing as also I-T Act.

“Two persons Sunil Kumar Yadav and Syed Rahman are the other accused in this case who liked these posts. They are yet to be arrested,” he said.

East Champaran SP Umesh Kumar Sharma said the UP STF team had arrested Rahul for cyber crime and Rahul was produced before the judicial magistrate at Motihari court and taken to Lucknow on transit remand on Wednesday.

UP STF ASP Triveni Singh said the case had been registered against the trio in Lucknow.

One of the accused had allegedly made derogatory remarks in his post and even announced a reward of Rs 1 crore for killing the UP CM, people familiar with the matter said.
