Now, CAL names Pandey as selection panel chairman

LUCKNOW:Correcting its mistake of ignoring junior national selector and UP’s own Gyanendra Pandey in its selection panel, the Cricket Association Lucknow on Thursday named the ex-India cricketer as chairman of its senior selection committee.

It also appointed former Ranji Trophy cricketer Ashok Bambi as the head of the junior selection panel. HT had raised this issue in its edition earlier this month when CAL named its different panels to run the games’ activities in Lucknow. Earlier, CAL had accepted that it could miss Gyanendra’s name for the job. Pandey is now on the verge of becoming the chairman of the junior national selection panel as the post is vacant since the resignation of its chairman and former India speedster Venkatesh Prasad.
