LUCKNOW: In an obvious bid to drive a wedge between the two main opposition parties, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday cautioned the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati (without naming her) against relying on the Samajwadi Party (SP) in future. “The Samajwadi Party has shown its opportunistic face to the public once again. This party can only take from others but can never give back,” he said at a hurriedly called press conference at the BJP headquarters soon after the results for the Rajya Sabha polls were announced.

“Wisdom lies in being alert before falling into the abyss,” said the chief minister in a loaded message apparently aimed at BSP national president who helped the Samajwadi Party win Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seats in recent by-elections on the understanding that SP would help the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Bhim Rao Ambedkar win the Rajya Sabha seat as a return gift.

who had been camping here since Thursday as an observer, said the results would only give momentum to the ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ drive.
“Now, the next challenge for us is to defeat the Congress in Karnataka,” said Goyal.
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party’s grand victory in Rajya Sabha polls would help the Modi government get sufficient numbers in the Upper House to pass the desired laws for the country.
Elated at the victory of party candidate Anil Agrawal in a neck-to-neck contest, senior BJP leaders, including the CM, offered ‘laddus’ to one another at the party office.
A large number of party workers had gathered to celebrate the victory.
