ALIGARH/BULANDSHAHR: In a redux of the gambling episode of the epic Mahabharat, a man lost his wife and two sons in gambling in Bulandshahr district following which the winner forcibly took away the couple’s two-year-old son with him.

The gambler’s wife said the incident took place in September 2015 but when the police did not register a case in this connection, she decided to move the court. It was only after the CJM court’s intervention that the police lodged an FIR on Monday.

Inspector, city Kotwali, Dhananjay Mishra said the complainant, a resident of Kotwali, informed the police that her husband Mohsin put her and their two sons at stake in a gambling bet with Imran, a resident of Sarai Gwala area of Aligarh, and lost.

“After a few days, Imran came to my house with three other persons and tried to take us away forcibly. Residents of the area came to our rescue when I raised an alarm. However, Imran managed to take away one of my sons,” the woman informed the police.

Furious over the incident, the woman divorced her husband and married another man, police said. Mohsin is presently living in New Delhi, they added.

The woman claimed she repeatedly tried to lodge a complaint but the police refused to take cognisance of the matter. She told police that she tried to meet her son several times but Imran, who lives in Aligarh, did not allow her to meet him.

Mishra said investigations were on in the case and action would be taken against the accused.
