LUCKNOW: A 43-year-old medical practitioner, Dr Asgar Ali Siddiqui was murdered by unidentified assailants and his throatslit body was found lying in bushes on the roadside in Madiaon’s Gauribheet locality here on Monday night.

His motorcycle was found parked at some distance from the spot and cops ascertained the deceased’s identity with help of the bike’s registration number, said police.

Dr Siddiqui, a Unani practitioner, worked at Balaganj Hospital and Maternity Centre on Hardoi road and had left his house in New Haiderganj in Saadatganj around 10.30 pm on Monday for night shift duty at the hospital.

His body was found at an entirely ‘off route’ location in Madiaon, around 8 km from the hospital. Police were probing why the doctor had gone to Madiaon when he had left for the hospital.

Harendra Kumar, ASP (trans-Gomti), said the doctor’s throat was slit with a sharpedged weapon and the struggle marks on his body suggested that at least two assailants overpowered and killed him.

He said the doctor’s mobile call details had been sought as it was suspected that he had gone to Madiaon after receiving a call

from someone familiar to him.

He had a brawl with the assailants over some issue and was murdered, added Kumar.

The ASP said initial probe was focused on a dispute related to a house in Madiaon’s Faizullaganj.

The doctor had a dispute with some people over its possession. Moreover, the role of a woman was also under scanner for various reasons, he added.

The ASP said the doctor’s father, Asif Ali Siddiqui, had lodged an FIR of murder under Section 302 of the IPC against unidentified persons.

So far, the complainant had not mentioned any dispute or enmity in the FIR, but the police were interacting with the deceased’s family members to know whether they suspected anyone, said Kumar.

THE POLICE SAID THE WOMAN IS LIKELY TO HAVE DIED DUE TO SOME ILLNESS BUT THE BODY HAS BEEN SENT FOR POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION.
