ALLAHABAD : The Board of Revenue, Allahabad, on Tuesday rejected objections moved by former UP minister Azam Khan regarding land dispute related to Rampur’s Jauhar University and directed to proceed with the matter relating to the case filed by district magistrate Rampur.

Azam Khan had objected to the Rampur’s DM petition seeking initiation of case against him (Azam) for alleged illegal occupation of chak roads (bypass roads used by the villagers) of Rampur for Jauhar University.

After hearing both sides, a member of Board of Revenue on Tuesday rejected the objections of Azam Khan.

It is alleged that some chak roads were coming within the huge land allocated for the Jauhar University.

It is also alleged that during the period when Azam Khan was UP cabinet minister (from 2012 to 2017), the commissioner, Moradabad division, permitted inclusion of these chak roads within the ambit of Jauhar University.

However, the DM Rampur on October 23, 2017 moved a petition before the Board of Revenue, seeking permission to initiate a case, as according to him the commissioner had improperly granted permission for the inclusion of chak roads. In the petition, it was alleged that as per rule the chak roads cannot be merged as they are used by the villagers.

However, Azam Khan filed objections against the petition stating that it was time barred and it was filed beyond the limitation period as prescribed in law.
