LUCKNOW: Residents of old city will now find it easier to board trains bound to Delhi, Mumbai and other prominent stations as the Railways is going to start prime trains from Aishbagh Railway Station. It is also developing satellite stations at City Station, Badshahnagar and Daliganj.

Officials with the Railways said, the facelift of Aishbagh station would be a boon for the city as it would not only enhance its connectivity but would also cut down the load from the main stations— Charbagh and Lucknow Junction to a considerable extent.

Officials said, the ‘transformation’ work is on its way. “Massive gauge conversion work between Sitapur-Mailani is going on at war-footing. Besides, the work of developing second entry at the Aishbagh Station too is on its way. And other work that includes the replacing of old tracks, developing infrastructure at the stations and other construction work at the station too is in the last phase,” the officer further said.

Other than Aishbagh, the construction of second entry building at the City station too is approaching its conclusion.

NER’s drive includes, construction of waiting halls, airconditioned VIP lounges, medical shops, cafeteria retiring rooms, modular toilets and lot more at the Aishbagh Station. The total estimated cost of the station’s makeover is around Rs 4 crore.
