FIR against 11 for brutally beating up teen in Deoria, 4 held

GORAKHPUR: The police on Friday arrested four persons for tying a 17-year-old youth to a tree and brutally beating him up in Telai Belwa village of Deoria under Sadar police station.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning wherein the youth, identified as Shamshad, was beaten up by 11 persons over a monetary dispute and rivalry. In a video circulated on social media, the accused were seen twisting his arm, repeatedly kicking him in the face, abdomen and beating him with belts while he kept crying for mercy.

After the video of the incident was widely circulated on social media and reported on TV channels, an FIR against 11 persons was lodged by the victim at Sadar police station on Thursday.

SP Deoria Rohan P Kanay said four persons, including the main accused Nasir, have been arrested. Search is on to arrest the remaining accused, he added. The SP met the victim at the police station and pulled up cops for their laxity in taking action. An FIR has been lodged under sections 147, 148, 323,504,506, 341 and 395 of the IPC by the victim.

TWO CHARRED BODIES RECOVERED AT BAKSHI BANDH

ALLAHABAD: Badly burnt bodies of two men were found near railway track at Bakshi Bandh locality here on Friday morning, police said. The faces of the two were beyond recognitio­n and the police were still trying to establish their identities, said SP City Siddharth Shankar Meena. Meena said locals first spotted the bodies in the morning and informed the cops.

IG Ramit Sharma, circle officer (Daraganj) Shiv Raj reached the spot and sent the bodies for post mortem. Forensic experts and dog squad were also pressed into service.

“No documents were found from the scene that could help in identifyin­g them,” he said. He said it was suspected that the duo was murdered and their bodies were set on fire to cover up the crime.
