Azamgarh ADM ‘slaps’ BDO, DM orders probe
VARANASI: Additional district magistrate of Azamgarh allegedly slapped a block development officer on Thursday after the duo entered into an argument during the preparations of a programme scheduled to be attended by deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday.
District magistrate of Azamgarh Shivanand Dwivedi said, “A probe has been ordered following the BDO’s complaint. The chief development officer will conduct a probe and submit the report at the earliest.”
Preparations for the event were on in Mohammadpur town of Azamgarh. ADM (administration) Lavkush Tripathi gave BDO Mohammadpur Santosh Narayan Gupta some instructions regarding the preparations and told him to keep special focus on cleanliness, following which the duo entered into an argument.
Gupta alleged that Tripathi slapped him and used abusive language during the preparations. He also informed Dwivedi about the incident. Dwivedi claimed that the problem was resolved on Thursday night itself. However, a probe has been ordered following the BDO’s allegations.
Following the incident, several sanitation workers of Mohammadpur staged a demonstration and went on strike on Friday. They ended the strike only after the DM assured them of action after the probe.
BDO MOHAMMADPUR SANTOSH NARAYAN GUPTA ALLEGED THAT ADM TRIPATHI SLAPPED HIM AND USED ABUSIVE LANGUAGE DURING THE PREPARATIONS.
