Tributes paid to Akhilesh Das Gupta on his birth anniv
LUCKNOW: Birth anniversary of former union minister and ex-mayor of Lucknow and founder of Babu Banarsi Das group, Akhilesh Das Gupta was observed by the BBD group at the auditorium of the BBD University on Saturday.
Chairperson of the BBD group Alka Das Gupta along with president of the group Viraj Sagar Das and vice president Sonakshi Das paid floral tributes to late Akhilesh Das Gupta.
Alka Das Gupta said, “My husband did a lot of public welfare activities all through his life. From making arrangements for drinking water on streets during scorching summers to ensuring raen baseras during winters, starting ambulance service for patients and organising blood donation camps—he was dedicated to social service.”
A number of welfare activities including donation at orphanage, service at old age home, dental check up camp, blood donation camp etc were also organised during the day under the banner of Akhilesh Das Foundation. More than 3,500 people participated in the event that was held at BBD University auditorium.
Under the foundation, members planted saplings and painted tree trunk at several parts in the state capital.
Other activities that was carried out on the occasion were blood donation camp, cleanliness drive, making people aware about importance of education, provided free legal aid, awareness for digitalisation, distribution of goodies at orphanages and old homes.
