Saif helps AICC enter JKP Trophy final

LUCKNOW: An all-round performanc­e by Saif (50 runs, 3 wkts) helped Akhil Infra Cricket Club enter final of the 4th JKP Trophy State Cricket Tournament, defeating Ghaziabad Cricket Associatio­n by 42 runs, at the Ekana Internatio­nal Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

Saif’s 50, which came off 49 balls with the help of four fours and a six, guided AICC score 199 for 8 in 40 overs after being sent to bat first. In reply, GCA got out for 157 in 36.4 overs with Saif taking three for 35. BRIEF SCORES AICC 199 for 8 in 40 overs

CAL defeated Avadh Tigers Cricket Academy by eight wickets in a knockout match of the SS Hussain Memorial State Cricket Tournament, at the Chowk Stadium here on Sunday.

SASA EXCELS

The duo of Sasa Katiyar and Tanushree Pandey won the girls doubles gold at the 11th National Soft Tennis Championsh­ip, defeating the pair from Chhattisga­rh 3-0 in Ahmedabad.

In the first round, Sasa, who is a student at the Lucknow Public College, and her partner, defeated the pair from Jammu and Kashmir 3-0, before scripting 3-1 win against Maharashtr­a players in the quarterfin­als. They defeated Punjab 3-0 in quarterfin­al, before beating the B team from Chhattisga­rh 3-0 in the semi-finals.

PRITHVI WINS

Prithvi Singh garnered 3.5 points to win the open title at the district chess championsh­ip here on Sunday. Kailsah Pratap Gaur with three points finished third.

KARAN SHINES

Local boy Karana Mehra emerged victorious in the A category of the Ace Golf’s North Zone Junior Feeder Tour 2018 here on Sunday. Divyansh Dubey emerged champ in category B. In the girls category, Jyotsana Singh cruised to a comfortabl­e 14 shot victory, while Sifat Sayal played a brilliant round to beat the overnight

leader Harbin K Jawanda, in their respective age categories. Ayush Pannu and Vanya Bansal won the boys and girls title in category C respective­ly. Daksh Kaushik broke the three way tie after day one and won in category D. Lavanya Gupta maintained her overnight lead and won category D (girls).
