‘AN UGLY ENCOUNTER WITH LOUTS’

- MOHSIN, VIA EMAIL

Last month I was invited to my friend’s sister’s birthday. After having cake at a famous bakery near a mall in Gomti Nagar, we decided to have dinner at a restaurant in Indira Nagar. We had three bikes.

As soon as we started, my phone rang. I asked my friends to go. They started in the service lane alongside the mall which is a deserted place.

As soon as I finished my conversation on phone, I headed in the same service lane on my motorcycle. Within a minute I was able to catch my friends who were driving slowly for me to join them. But I saw that three bikers were trying to stop my friend who was on his Activa with his sister. I shouted at those men who were in their thirties and found they were heavily drunk. My friends told me the trio was trying to stop them. I asked my friends to remain calm as I thought these drunkards might have weapons.

First those men were a little scared but within a few minutes they started becoming aggressive. I introduced myself as a police officer and told them to come with me for a medical check-up. I am a government servant, so I understand how a policeman behaves. When I asked for medical check-up, they started apologizing. Then I told them to go. After this incident I was shaken so badly that I couldn’t have dinner and couldn’t sleep properly. This is the first time I experienced such an incident. I had only read about such incidents in newspapers. I am with all those who protest crimes against women.
