LUCKNOW: The eye-shaped Metro station of Hazratganj would be a marvel, one of the best designed stations in the country, said managing director, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) Kumar Keshav on Wednesday.

The station would be completed next month but would be open for public only after the launch of Metro on this route.

“The Hazratganj Metro station would be unique compared to other underground metro stations on the North-South corridor. The elliptical entry point would be an eye-catcher, with large glasses around a steel structure to create the impression of an eye,” he said.

The stairs and escalators of the Hazaratganj Metro Station were designed like the pupil of the eye as if a dancer was opening and closing the eyes in sync with music, said Kumar Keshav.

“When completed, this station will have two entry/exit points on each side of main Hazaratganj road, connecting it with the footpath on side. This will provide easy access and smooth connectivity for passengers travelling by Metro to shop in Hazaratganj,” he said.

Colour scheme of pink, red, white and black would be used to make the station more beautiful.

The station would be another unique edifice for Ganj which already houses buildings like the Cathedral, Mayfair, Halwasiya Court, Habibullah estate, LIC office and DRM office, said Kumar Keshav.

“The station would be commercially most viable for LMRC as it would attract maximum stalls and advertising space,” he said.

The MD said that the work on the Hazratganj underground Metro station, where construction of four entrance and exit gates and property development in concourse area was being done speedily, was expected to be completed next month.

The underground station in front of Bapu Bhavan will house a ‘Metro Museum’ at the concourse level.

This Metro Museum will showcase the history and genesis of Lucknow Metro in the capital city, the initial challenges and difficulties associated with the project, the grit and determination of the Metro engineers who made this dream a reality in a short span of 3 year and how the Lucknow Metro Rail Project was different from other Metro projects.

It would also showcase the officials who led the Metro construction.

When completed, this station will have two entry/exit points on each side of main Hazaratganj road, connecting it with the footpath on side. This will provide easy access and smooth connectivity for passengers travelling by Metro to shop in Hazaratganj.
