WITH LOOSE SHOES, STUDENTS FAIL TO PUT BEST FOOT FORWARD

-

VARANASI: Despite being dressed in proper school uniform, Rehan, a student of class 1 at Chaka Ghat primary school in Varanasi, is not happy as he has to attend his school in slippers.

“The shoes given to me by the school are loose. I have no option but to wear slippers,” he said. Rehan is not alone.

“I put on slippers since shoes provided by the school are bigger than my feet,” says Anshu Kumar, a student of class 3.

According to school principal Rekha Agarwal, many students received shoes bigger than their actual size.

Principal of another primary school, who did not wish to be named, said: “Many students have complained that the shoes provided to them were loose. They have been allowed to come to school in slippers. Shoes were provided to children about a year ago. We have got complaints that shoes of some of the students, who were using them regularly, are in tatters.”

A teacher at government primary school in Hingutar- garh in Chandauli said shoes provided to most of the students were in a bad shape. “Many students have complained they were provided shoes that were big in size,” he said.

At Chauka Ghat primary school, Nitish Kumar, Pankaj and Manoj Kumar are among the students who wear shoes regularly.

“Ever since I was provided uniform and shoes by the school, I have been attending my classes in complete uniform. I put on my shoes daily,” Nitish Kumar, a student of class 4, said.
