LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the district magistrates of those districts that were hit by storm on Friday night to access the loss and extend relief to the affected persons without any delay. Rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning had lashed parts of the state with Kaiserganj recording maximum of 6 cm rainfall. At least three deaths were reported. For his part, the weatherman said the cloudy weather would continue for another three four days. “Rain and light showers are likely to occur in parts of east and west Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. This will lead to pleasant conditions across the state where overcast conditions would continue to prevail,” said JP Gupta, state met director.

› As many as 325 (BJP) MLAs were elected (in 2017 assembly polls). Are all of them unworthy? Did none them deserve to be chief minister?

OM PRAKASH RAJBHAR, minister

VARANASI : Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, who has been blowing hot and cold against the BJP government in the state of late, claimed chief minister Yogi Adityanath did not listen to him and he had to travel to New Delhi to make his point.

Backing the MPs and MLAs who have raised their voice against being ignored by the government, Rajbhar said, “Public representatives are being ignored.”

Rajbhar, who heads the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief, was speaking at an Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao event in Ballia district on Saturday.

The SBSP is an alliance partner of the BJP.

Rajbhar, who has claimed the backwards in the state are being neglected, had met BJP chief Amit Shah in New Delhi last month, just before the Rajya Sabha elections and claimed to have convinced the party chief about the genuineness of his issues.

He had also said at the time, “Shah will come to Lucknow on April 10 when the issues I have flagged will be discussed during a meeting featuring chief minister Yogi Adityanath and state BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey.”

Voicing his discontent again on Saturday, he said a meeting with Shah was due on April 10 (in Lucknow).

“If my demand is not considered, I will think over the alliance from a new perspective,” he said.

He alleged, “Corruption still persists in the government. Employees, who enjoy blessings of the top BJP leaders, have been deployed in the UP secondary education selection board. Officials from districts are sending false reports to chief minister Yogi Adityanath and the CM trusts such reports.”

Rajbhar said hundreds of people raised their hands at a public meeting in eastern UP four days ago and claimed their ration cards had not been made yet though officials of that district sent “an OK report”.

Asked why none of the elected MLAs were appointed as CM, Rajbhar said, “Public gave full majority (to the BJP and its allies). As many as 325 MLAs were elected. Are all of them unworthy? Did none them deserve to be chief minister? Had they been treated as eligible, one of them would have been chief minister.”

Adityanath was not a member of either house of the UP legislature when he was appointed chief minister on March 19, 2017.

“One of the MLAs elected by the public should have been appointed as chief minister,” he said.

“I want to know, were all the 325 MLAs unworthy or ineligible?” he asked.
