JEE BEd-2018: Four imposters caught, 10% candidates skip exam
LUCKNOW: Four imposters were caught during the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) BEd-2018 conducted by the Lucknow University in 11 districts of the state on Wednesday. Apart from this one candidate had tampered with the stream (subject group) mentioned in the admit card, an official said.
“Four impostors were identified at two centres in Allahabad. A detailed report about the FIR lodged and other actions taken was sought from the concerned centre superintendent and nodal officials,” said Prof Naveen Khare, state coordinator, JEE BEd-2018.
This year, special precautions were taken for verification of doubtful candidates, said Prof Khare. In all, about 1,273 doubtful candidates were identified across the state through the online verification process adopted this year, he added. He said, “All centres related to these doubtful candidates were alerted about this and personal identification of all such candidates was carried out through their photo ID, signature and other personal detail submitted in application form.”
Information to these test centers was communicated through the Lucknow University representatives who were sent to all the 11 nodal cities.
Each test centre would be sending the detailed report of the verification which would be analysed by an expert panel, said Prof Khare and added that appropriate action would be taken before declaration of the results.
Nearly 10% candidates skipped the JEE BEd-2018 that was held in two shifts on Wednesday at 469 centres across 11 cities of the state. A total of 2,33,913 candidates had registered for the exam. In the first shift, 2,09,581 candidates appeared in the exam and 24,332 were absent. However, in the second shift, 2,10,263 candidates were present while 23,650 were absent, informed Prof Khare.
He said, “Some candidates did not appear in the first paper but reported for the second paper due to various reasons. As per the BEd examination guidelines a candidate can appear in either of the test papers. But the result of only those candidates would be declared who have appeared in both the papers.” The result will be declared before May 10 and counselling is likely to begin from June 1, so as to complete the entire process by July 10.
