GOVT GEARS UP FOR GRAM SWARAJ ON APRIL 14

LUCKNOW:Chief Secretary Rajive Kumar took stock of preparedne­ss as the Uttar Pradesh government gears up to launch the ‘Gram Swaraj’ campaign on Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s birth anniversar­y on April 14.

Beginning with Samajik Nyay Diwas on April 14, the threeweek long campaign, which would continue till May 5, is part of a series of programmes to reach out to Dalits and backward sections of the society and highlight the government’s schemes and works for them. The country-wide publicity cum awareness drive would be undertaken in 3,387 Dalit dominated villages where officials would check the status of seven schemes launched by the Centre in villages for developmen­t push.

Kumar in his video conference with commission­ers of divisions asked them to prepare an action plan and ask district magistrate­s to themselve supervise execution and verificati­on process at the village level of these schemes.

The officials have been asked to choose developmen­t blocks and villages dominated by Dalits and send a progress report on scheme-implementa­tion to the concerning department through e-mail on each Monday of the week.

The government plans to observe April 18, 20, 24 and 28 as ‘Swachch Bharat Diwas’, ‘Ujjwala Diwas’, ‘Panchayati Raj Diwas’ and ‘Gram Shakti Diwas’ respective­ly to highlight its works. Similarly, April 30, May 2 and May 5 would be observed as ‘Aayushman Bharat’, Kisan Kalyan Diwas and Aajivka (livelihood) Diwas to publicise various schemes aimed at benefiting farmers and the poor.
