After prolonged prayers, MLA spends day with wellwishers
The lawmaker is said to have spent hours in understanding the political and legal technicalities that could arise after CBI takes over
LUCKNOW: Kuldeep Singh Sengar (51), the lawmaker who has been accused of rape and against whom an FIR was lodged in Unnao on Thursday for the same, spent Thursday busy knocking his ‘well-wishers’ doors, ‘seeking their advice and help’.
After the midnight ‘surrender’ drama, the BJP MLA spent rest of the night at a flat in Gomti Nagar extension area here. Thursday morning witnessed an extended session of his daily prayers before he left the house in the afternoon, moving around in the state capital in his motorcade to meet his wellwishers. He was also accompanied by another MLA during the day.
Source said the MLA later also visited the house of an influential independent MLA, who is considered to be a leader of Thakur lawmakers in the state.
Sengar is also a Thakur and is said to have spent hours at the independent MLA’s Lucknow

residence to understand the political and legal technicalities after coming to know that the Central Bureau of Investigations has taken up the case against him on Thursday after the state government’s recommendation in the alleged rape and murder case.
“Sengar started from Gomti Nagar in his motorcade that included high-end luxury SUVs and went towards Hazratganj to meet a near one at around 2.50 pm,” said a person familiar to him.
He said several of Sengar’s supporters kept waiting at his government accommodation at Bahukhandi multi-storey building but he did not reached there till late Thursday night.
“Vidhayak ji is not an absconder. He is in the city and ready to cooperate in police investigation and remain available for questioning any time,” emphasised another person associated with Sengar when asked about the MLA’s location.
He said Sengar met several people on Thursday. Hindustan Times attempts to talk to the MLA for his version could not materialize as his mobile was switched off.
One of his aides said the MLA remained so busy on Thursday that he could not even spare time to meet his wife Sangeeta Sengar, who is admitted in a Gomti Nagar private hospital since Wednesday, during the day time.
His wife is undergoing treatment after she fainted after facing queries from media persons when she went to meet the UP DGP OP Singh on Wednesday morning demanding narcoanalysis test of her husband as well the alleged rape victim.
