UP delegation to visit USA to attract investment

US India Strategic Partnershi­p Forum to pave way for CM’s proposed visit to America later this year

LUCKNOW After holding a successful UP Investors Summit on February 21 and 22 here, the state government has begun sending delegation­s abroad to attract investment from foreign companies.

Minister for medical and health Siddharth Nath Singh along with an official delegation will leave for the USA next week (April 20 to 27) to interact with the business community to attract new investment­s in Uttar Pradesh.

US India Strategic Partnershi­p Forum will host multi-city roadshows to create awareness and pave way for chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s proposed visit to the USA later this year.

“We will interact with representa­tives of about 400 US companies and expect an investment of 5 billion US Dollars from the US,” said Singh.”

Singh said the delegation would also interact with the companies that have already signed MoUs ahead of the Investors Summit. He said the companies that had signed MoUs included Amazon. The state government has signed an MoU with the Amazon to promote Khadi apparels manufactur­ed in the state and also market online UP Khadi as a brand.

Other companies on delegation’s itinerary include Uber and Medtronic. Singh said the state government was looking for a specific pilot project to increase Uber’s penetratio­n in tier 2 and 3 cities. He said Medtronic too had been looking for an investment of about ₹2000 crore to set up cath labs in the state. The Coca Cola, AECOM, Proctor and Gamble, Gilead, United Health, Cisco, Google and Facebook were other major companies that the delegation proposes to reach out to during its visit.

It may be mentioned that a delegation led by minister for industry Satish Mahana has also concluded its visit to Dubai and Mahana addressed a session organized at World Trade Centre there on investment opportunit­ies in Uttar Pradesh.
