Himanshu fashions SMC’s big win
LUCKNOW: A five-wicket haul by Himanshu Dwivedi helped Star Montessori Club (SMC) score a thumping 191-run win against Kalyanpur Strikers in a C division league match, at the Microlit Ground here on Thursday.
Pacers Himanshu took 5/15 in his five over spell as Kalyanpur Strikers collapsed for paltry 62 in 10.3 overs while chasing 254 in 40 overs. Alok Singh had 2/26, whereas Mahmood and Sahil shared two wickets between them. Latif (25) and Prashant Singh (19) could reach the double figure mark.
Earlier, Vishal Kanojiya struck an unbeaten 55, which came off 60 balls with the help of three fours as Star Montessori Club piled up 253 for 9 in 40 overs.
Himanshu Dwivedi (39), Nitesh Singh (38), Rahul Yadav (31) and Mahmood (30) made useful contribution with willow. For Kalyanpur Strikers, Vimal Goswami had five for 50, whereas Shivam Srivastava took 2 for 27.
SAWARIYA SHINES
Shivpal Sawariya struck 51-ball 57, which contained six hits to the fence as Mahapaur XI defeated Press XI by 14 runs in the opening league match of the Nagar Nigam Cricket Tournament, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Thursday.
Saurabh Singh made unbeaten 44 in 32 balls with the help of four fours and a six, whereas Shailendra Singh and Adil made 27 and 22 respectively as Mahapaur XI scored 223 for 6 in 25 overs with 54 being ‘Mr Extras’. For Press XI, Abhishek Mishra took three for 43.
In reply, Press XI made 209 for six in 25 overs. Sudhir Tewari struck highest 82 in 67 balls with the help of nine fours. Vikash Shukla (29) and Dikshant Sharma (22) were the other main run getters.
MEDHANSH WINS
Medhansh Saxena won the boys under-11 title at the District Chess Championship here on Thursday in a thriller. Medhansh along with Divyansh Pandey had three points each, but in tie-break, Medhansh defeated his rival to finish top. Sachin with 2.5 points finished third.

Shatakshi of Allahabad and Shangun Kumar of Gorakhpur marched into the girls under-12 semi-finals of the AITA Talent Series-& in Allahabad on Thursday.
