KANPUR: The Unnao district administration has increased the security of teenage rape victim and her family to an unprecedented level, officials said.

An official privy to the development said on condition of anonymity that even the food being given to the girl and her family at the hotel was being examined and tasted by two food inspectors before being served to them.

He said the extra cautious approach by the administration could be attributed to the victim’s health and the threat perception that she was facing.

The girl has accused BJP MLA from Bangarmau Kuldeep Singh Sengar of raping her in June last year. The security measures are in addition to a posse of 25 armed policemen stationed on the ground floor of the hotel where new CCTV cameras have been installed. The official said Unnao district magistrate Ravi Kumar NG was informed about the victim’s health and that she had been fainting every now and then.

The DM informed chief medical officer Dr SP Chowdhary about the girl’s condition after which a doctor, Rudransh Mishra, was sent to the hotel where he examined the teenager and her family members.

Mishra said the family members had not been taking food properly and were exhausted and weak. Chief food safety officer, Unnao, KK Tripathi told the hotel management that the food served to the family would first be examined and tasted by two food inspectors. .
