Milk vendor held for bid to molest girl

LUCKNOW: A milk vendor was arrested from near Kathauta crossing in Gomti Nagar on Friday for allegedly trying to molest a 17-year-old girl.

The accused, Pravesh Kumar Yadav, had been supplying milk at the girl’s residence in Gomti Nagar for the past one year.

A case was lodged against him at the Vibhuti Khand police station under the POCSO Act.

On Friday, when the milk vendor went to supply milk, he found the girl alone in the house as her parents were away.

Pravesh tried to molest her, but the girl managed to push him out of the room and bolted the door.

Later, she informed her parents over phone about the incident, said police.

The girl’s parents lodged an FIR at the Vibhuti Khand police station.

After investigat­ion, Amarnath Saroj, sub-inspector, Vibhuti Khand, arrested Yadav from near Kathauta crossing, Vibhuti Khand.

TWO AUTO-LIFTERS ARRESTED

Cops arrested two auto-lifters in Thakurganj area on Friday and recovered three motorcycle­s and Rs 2,000 from them.

Those arrested were identified as Santosh Rathore, a resident of Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow and Shamsuddin, a native of Sitapur.

According to cops, the Thakurganj police got informatio­n about the presence of auto-lifters at Malapuram crossing, Jal Nigam Road, Thakurganj.

After getting informatio­n, cops reached the spot, saw two persons on a motorcycle and detained them. During interrogat­ion, they revealed their criminal past.

Later, cops recovered two more motorcycle­s on the revelation of the criminals.
