Gulmohar ‘Red’ score easy win in Friendship Trophy

LUCKNOW: Gulmohar ‘Red’ scored a convincing 157-run win against Gulmohar ‘Blue’ in a league match of the Friendship Trophy Cricket Tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Friday.

Jain (52, 78b, 6x4), Karan Yadav (49, 52b, 4x4) and Utkarsh (48, 37b, 8x4) excelled with willow as Gulmohar ‘Red’ piled up 256 for nine in 40 overs while batting first after winning the toss.

R Tandon and Darshil Srivastava shared four wickets between them.

In reply, Gulmohar Blue after losing two quick wickets for just nine collapsed for paltry 99 in 19 overs. Shyam Shukla top scored with 22 which came off 35 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Kabir and R Tandon took three wickets each.

ANIL EXCELS

Anil Singh took 6/12 as Nagar Ayukt XI defeated Jal Kal XI by four wickets in a league match of the Nagar Nigam Cricket Tournament here on Friday. Jal Kal XI got out for 101 in 22.4 overs with opener Dheeraj Verma scoring highest 39.

In reply, Nagar Ayukt XI romped home in 12.5 overs, losing six wickets. Ankit scored 49 in 31 balls with the help of six fours and a six.

SCHOOL CHESS

An Inter-School Open Chess Tournament will be held at Immaculate Conception Convent School here in Gomti Nagar from April 24 to 27.

The tournament will be played under Swiss system and FIDE rules in seven rounds and will be open for all students up to class 12th of all educationa­l Institutio­ns.
