Victory of truth, Cong president Rahul Gandhi should apologise to people

LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the Supreme Court judgment turning down the plea to probe the death of special CBI judge BH Loya had exposed the conspiracy hatched by the Congress to tarnish the image of the apex court and BJP national president Amit Shah.

Terming the judgment a victory of the truth, Adityanath said Congress president Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the people. He tried to create instability in the country by launching a tirade against the Supreme Court, Yogi said.

Addressing a press conference, Adityanath said, “Rahul Gandhi does not want any person other than someone from the Gandhi family to run the country. A person from a poor family has become the prime minister of the country. And the Congress dislikes it. Instead of hatching a political conspiracy, Rahul should do some ground-level politics.”

He referred to a Congress press conferences and Rahul Gandhi- led delegation to the President for a probe into judge Loya’s death and said some political parties were using public interest litigations (PILs) as a tool to serve their vested interest. “There should be a check on such practice. Some lawyers have also misused their profession for serving the agenda of a political party,” he said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that judge Loya died of natural causes and that the petitions were a serious attempts to scandalise and obstruct the course of justice.

Loya had allegedly died of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014 when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague’s daughter.

The top court, which was critical of the petitioners and their lawyers for making insinuations against judicial officers and judges, said an attempt was made to cause prejudice against them and that it was a “vituperative assault on the judiciary.”
