Ready to quit Yogi govt any time, says disgruntled Rajbhar
VARANASI: Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister and president of BJP ally Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) Om Prakash Rajbhar on Thursday accused the Yogi government of betraying backward class students.
“The government has deceived backward caste students for not making proper arrangement of scholarships. The government should start a portal where OBC students may register themselves and after completing procedure, scholarship may be transferred to their accounts,” he said.
“I am ready to quit the government any time, if I am asked to do so,” Rajbhar added.
The BJP ally complained that the students were not getting the scholarships meant for them.
“There is a lot of hue and cry in the entire state over scholarships and fee reimbursement of backward class students,” he
HE ALSO ALLEGED THAT THE GOVT HAD FAILED TO CHECK GRAFT AS A COTERIE OF OFFICIALS THAT WAS INFLUENTIAL IN PREVIOUS REGIMES, WAS HOLDING SWAY IN PRESENT GOVT AS WELL
said. “This is injustice against them. The state government is betraying them. Of the 26 lakh backward class students, about 11 lakh have not benefited till now,” the minister said.
The SBSP president also alleged that the government had failed to check corruption as a coterie of officials, which was influential in previous regimes, was still holding sway.
“Five IAS officers were influential during the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party governments. They are powerful in the present regime too and are running the government,” he alleged.
“Situation has turned from bad to worse. The CM has accepted that corruption is still there at police stations and tehsils and he couldn’t do much on this front in the last one year,” he said.
When asked if he would demand expulsion of Unnao rape case accused and BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, he said: “I am the national president of SBSP. Had he (Sengar) been in my party, I would have thrown him out immediately. I hope BJP will also expel him.”
Asked whether his SBSP will continue its alliance with BJP till 2019, the UP cabinet minister said, “We have formed an alliance till 2024. If BJP says it does not need us, I will immediately return them my ministerial post.”
“If raising voice for the backwards is wrong, then BJP can immediately snap ties with us,” he added.
