PWD LAUNCHES SOFTWARES FOR GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL
LUCKNOW: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya launched on Thursday two custom-made software applications aimed at bringing transparency and accountability in PWD’s activities.
“The initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to introduce e-governance system in all the departments,” said Maurya adding that all work related orders would have to be raised through these softwares from May 1.
Called ‘Vishkarma’ and ‘Chanakya’, the two applications would provide online information and access to people about various important works and projects of the department and also allow contractors to register with the department, he said.
The department heads would also be able to monitor the progress of ongoing projects and roads. A couple of weeks ago, the PWD had launched a dedicated Whatsapp number on which complaints related to quality of work, bad roads etc could be made. Maurya said the department had received 7652 complaints on the Whatsapp number out of which 1889 complaints were related to roads but only 926 were about roads under the PWD. “We have disposed of 44 complaints so far,” he said adding that instructions had been issued to officials to expedite work on other complaints.
“Wherever possible, we will try to undertake repair works of roads, which do not come under our jurisdiction,” said an official.
Making all roads pot-hole free in 100 days was one of the poll promises of Yogi Adityanath government. But several anomalies had cropped up and work executed was found unsatisfactory following which PWD chief engineers and superintending engineers were given responsibility of verification of roads in all 75 districts.
