UP Board students to get lowcost textbooks

ALLAHABAD: Besides NCERT books of 18 subjects, the UP Board textbooks of remaining 13 subjects have been provided to the students of government­run schools in the state.

Secretary, UP Board, Neena Srivastava said the price of textbooks of 13 subjects had been keep low in accordance with the government’s directives.

“The paper quality is also of high grade. The supply of books to various districts has begun,” she added.

The UP Board has adopted the syllabus of the National Council for Education, Research and Training (NCERT) for its students from the 2018-19 academic session.

Implementi­ng its decision, the UP Board introduced NCERT textbooks for 18 subjects printed on standard paper and at a reasonable price.

The old UP Board textbooks were retained for remaining 13 subjects but in accordance with the government’s directives, its price was kept low.

The highest price of any book amongst all 13 subjects is Rs 100 (Social science; 752 pages) for classes 9 to 12 printed by Kaka & Sons.

Similarly, the 284-page English textbook for class 9 is available at Rs 36 while 256-page English textbook for class 10 is available for Rs 34.

The 144-page English subject textbook for class 11 is priced at Rs 20 while 304-page English textbook for class 12 is being sold at Rs 41.

COST OF TEXTBOOKS OF 13 SUBJECTS HAD BEEN KEEP LOW IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GOVERNMENT’S DIRECTIVES.
