Harshit excels for LUA in C division cricket league

LUCKNOW : Harshit Yadav’s allround performance (138 runs, 3 wkts) helped Lucknow Unique Academy (LUA) notch up 23-run win against Lucknow Cricket Nursery (LCN) in a C division league, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Monday.

Before being bowled by Kunwar, energetic Harshit struck 138 in 89 balls with the help of 13 fours and seven sixes as LUA piled up 243 in 40 overs after being sent to bat first. In reply, LCN despite losing the first wicket for just six, managed 220 in 35.5 overs. Harshit had 3/38, whereas Rajat Chand took 3/15.

In other matches of the day, Mega Trends Cricket Club by 63 runs, Yorker Cricket Club beat Gulmohar Cricket Club by 41 runs, UP Police scored a thrilling three-run win against Cricket Promotion Group, and Naqvi Sporting beat Shakumbari Cricket Club by eight wickets.

Ashok Yadav (37) and Imran (27) helped UP Police make 115 in 30 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Lovneesh Kumar and Rishabh Shukla shared six wickets between them, whereas Aftab and Deepak had two wickets each.

In reply, Cricket Promotion Group after losing the first wicket on 14 in the third over never found the going easy and kept losing wickets on regular intervals before being out for 112 in 30 overs. Tapas Yadav took three wickets for 26.

SCHOOL CHESS

The Immaculate Conception Convent School is going to organize an Inter-School Open Chess Tournament from Tuesday here. The tournament will be played under Swiss system and FIDE rules in seven rounds and will be open for all students up to class 12th of all educational Institutions. More than 150 entries from various schools and colleges are confirmed so far.
