LUCKNOW: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to take rape accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar to Unnao on Wednesday to examine the spot where the victim girl’s father was attacked.

The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA is in CBI custody since April 13.

A senior CBI official privy to investigation said the team would recreate the sequence of events according to the MLA’s claims and would try to verify his statements.

He said the MLA’s custody would end on April 27 and the CBI team was trying to get all the facts cross-checked before it.

The officer said the CBI team would revisit Sengar’s residence in Makhi (Unnao) where the alleged rape took place.

The girl’s father was allegedly attacked by MLA’s brother Atul Singh Sengar and his aides to pressure him not to pursue his petition in the Unnao court.

The girl’s father was seeking registration of an FIR against the MLA for alleged rape of his daughter on June 4, 2017.

After assaulting him, the MLA’s brother allegedly got a fake case registered against the girl’s father.

He succumbed to injuries on April 9 in the absence of proper treatment in jail.

Earlier on April 12, the UP police registered a case of rape and kidnapping against the MLA and his aide Shashi Singh in Unnao.

The development came after the BJP-led governments in the state and the Centre faced criticism over the handling of Unnao rape and murder cases, which sent shock waves across the country.

The alleged crime grabbed headlines after the rape survivor attempted self-immolation outside the residence of chief minister Yogi Adityanath on April 8.
