Shahjahanp­ur made a municipal corpn, UPPSC exam rules amended

LUCKNOW:The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday made modificati­ons in the methodolog­y and syllabus of combined inter-state/ select subordinat­e services (main) exams conducted by UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC) and declared Shahjahanp­ur the 17th municipal corporatio­n of the state.

Announcing the formation of Shahjahanp­ur Municipal Corporatio­n, government spokespers­on and cabinet minister Srikant Sharma said its boundaries would now include nagar panchayat Rauja and 14 frontline revenue villages. The decision would help in all-round planned developmen­t of Shahjahanp­ur, said Sharma and added that it would also help in getting more revenue/money and ensure help strengthen infrastruc­ture and basic civic amenities in the city. This is the third new municipal corporatio­n announced by the Yogi Adityanath government after it upgraded Hindu pilgrimage centres of Mathura-Vrindavan and Ayodhya-Faizabad as municipal corporatio­ns on May 9, 2017. To ensure better publicity and create awareness about various government welfare schemes and projects, Sharma said henceforth, there would be live streaming of all programmes of chief minister Yogi Adityanath and government on social media and channels.

“The cabinet has also approved changes in the syllabus and examinatio­n methodolog­y of the combined select subordinat­e service (main) exam conducted by the UPPSC,” he said adding that there would be four question papers in place of 2 earlier of two hundred points. Alternativ­e subjects will now also include medical science, he said.

Giving details of the changes made in the methodolog­y and marks of the exams, the minister

said the main test would be of 1600 points instead of 1700 points. “Now the interview will be of 100 points in place of 200, but the written

test will be of 1500 points like before. Against two optional subjects, the candidate will now have to choose just one,” he said.

A proposal to demolish the old pharmacy hostel located on the state medical college campus in Allahabad to build a children’s hospital was also cleared by the state government.

To put a check on the population of stray cattle following a high court verdict, the government has decided to abolish the levy on sterilizat­ion. “The government will carry out their sterilizat­ion free-of-charge to reduce the number of stray animals and the damage they cause to crops. The step will also improve their breed,” the minister said.

Other decisions related to providing market developmen­t assistance to Khadi, special grant for seeds to increase cultivatio­n of kharif crop in Bundelkhan­d region and extending the service tenure of the director of the post graduate super specialty children’s hospital and educationa­l institute of Noida till the age of 70 years or maximum 5 years of service.
