BJP MLA WRITES TO YOGI ABOUT POPULARITY OF SP MP
BAREILLY: Hardly a year before the crucial general elections, BJP MLA from Badaun district Mahesh Chandra Gupta has written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath warning him about the popularity of sitting Samajwadi MP from the district Dharmendra Yadav.
“Because of the development works done in the district during the Samajwadi Party government, people of the district have developed a faith in Dharmendra Yadav,” wrote Mahesh Gupta, sitting BJP MLA from Badaun. He goes on to list the development works done in Badaun during the SP’s regime which include construction of a medical college, overbridge, four lane road and a bypass to ease traffic. Construction of a degree college, polytechnic institute and a state engineering college are also listed as development work carried out in the SP government.
Dharmendra Yadav is cousin brother of former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Gupta, who won from the Badaun city constituency seat by defeating the then SP MLA, claimed that despite winning majority seats in Badaun, the party had not dented the influence of Dharmendra Yadav. “Five of the six constituencies have BJP MLAs, the government in the state is also of BJP, yet there in no change in the influence of Dharmendra Yadav, this makes the the winning prospects of BJP candidate in 2019 election doubtful,” read the letter. When contacted Gupta said, “I am an honest member of BJP and the only purpose to write that letter was to inform the chief minister about ground reality of the district.”
