Lucknow Book Fair to begin from April 27

LUCKNOW: The city’s much awaited event, the Lucknow Book Fair, is set to begin at the SNA Garden in Gomti Nagar from April 27.

Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma would inaugurate the 10-day-event being organised jointly by Lucknow Book Fair and Ankuram Shiksha Mahotsav.

Manoj Singh, convenor of Lucknow Book Fair, said the event’s theme this time will be ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.

He said leading publishers, distributo­rs and NGOs would take part in the fair.

Besides, the cultural organisati­ons from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Gujarat and Lucknow would participat­e in the event.

He said students and teachers from various primary and upper primary schools from other districts also would be visiting the fair.

The organisers are in touch with GD Goenka School and various degree colleges such as Nari Shiksha Niketan, Navyug Kanya and SMS Management College for their participat­ion in various events that would be organised during the programme.

The 10-day-long mega festival would also witness panel discussion­s on quality primary education, agricultur­e, digital initiative, fitness and sports, skill developmen­t and various other subjects.

Singh said the committee has also proposed to honour Arunima Sinha, the first woman amputee to have scaled the Mount Everest, with Shaan-e-Lucknow Award during the Lucknow Book Fair on May 1, 2018.
