Adityanath orders echallan for traffic violators
LUCKNOW: Violating traffic rules with impunity will no more be possible in Uttar Pradesh.
Taking note of increasing road mishaps, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday asked officials to make arrangements for issuing e-challan to those breaking traffic norms and consequently contributing to accidents.
Yogi asked the police and transport departments to launch a joint campaign for road safety and ensure that people use helmets and seat belts.
He said rules for school vans should also be strictly implemented and a campaign to make students and parents aware about them be launched.
The chief minister was presiding over a meeting on road safety at his Shastri Bhawan office.
He said police, transport, education and medical and health departments should work out a joint programme for the implementation of road safety measures.
He said basic education and secondary education departments should launch a campaign for inspection of school vans.
He said refresher training programmes should be launched for drivers and measures should be initiated to make necessary improvements in roads where black spots had been identified.
Strict action should also be taken in cases of drunken driving and overloading etc, the chief minister said.
