LUCKNOW: The city police on Saturday arrested a 26-year-old man for attacking his mother with a knife in Qaiserbagh area here on Friday afternoon.

The accused also injured his wife when she tried to rescue his mother.

Later, he scripted a false story of attack by motorcycle-borne miscreants to mislead the police.

Additional superintendent of police (ASP) West, Vikas Chandra Tripathi said the accused, Naseer, had been arrested on Saturday after police found proper evidences against him.

He said Naseer attacked his mother Razia, 58, with a knife in a fit of rage.

Razia sustained serious throat injury in the attack. Naseer also attacked his wife Shehzadi when she tried to rescue Razia.

He said Naseer’s mother often used to ask him about ₹26 lakh that the family had procured after selling their old house a few months ago. Naseer had kept the entire money with himself after selling the house and was not willing to share it with anyone, the ASP added.

He said Naseer and his mother often had a brawl over the matter and on Friday morning also they had an argument after Naseer’s father Hafiz left for Gomti Nagar where he ran a school canteen.

He added that Naseer got irked and attacked his mother when she again asked about the money. However, he later realised his fault and apologised to her.

The accused, then, scripted a false story of attack by unknown assailants before informing the police, the ASP said, adding that Naseer also took his wife in confidence to conceal the truth.

He said the accused lodged a false complaint but thorough investigation revealed the entire story. Besides, the accused deliberately injured his left hand to mislead the police.

The ASP said Naseer’s mother was still undergoing treatment at KGMU’s trauma centre while he and his wife were discharged immediately after primary treatment.

Earlier, Naseer had lodged an FIR that three motorcycle-borne miscreants barged into his house in Shekhawat Lane behind Oudh Gymkhana Club and attacked his mother and wife.

In the FIR, he had accused two people with whom his uncle Kalam Ahmad had dispute over possession of the house in which he and his family stays at present.
