AGRA: A constable allegedly shot dead a 12-year-old boy in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad after a dispute during a wedding on Saturday and escaped with the body.

Constable Mahendra Singh, deployed with the Farrukhabad Kotwali, was apparently angry at the boy, Manav, who is his nephew, when the latter’s feet brushed the former while dancing to the DJ’s music at the wedding in Aranv village under Sirsaganj police station limits, according to the FIR.

Since the constable was the boy’s uncle, people at the wedding thought he might be taking the boy for treatment, but instead, he escaped with the body, police said. The boy’s father came to know about the incident only after the function, and filed a complaint against his brother.

A case was registered at Sirsaganj police station against Mahendra Singh, who is said to have extended his leave on medical grounds, Ravindra Kumar Dubey, in-charge of Sirsaganj police station, said.

Investigations are on to ascertain the truth and a hunt is on to nab the accused and recover the body, police said.

The Firozabad police are in touch with their Farukkhabad counterparts for the same.
