Infant and 7-yr-old girl raped by kin in Lucknow and Sitapur

LUCKNOW: The spate of sexual violence continues in UP as two girls, aged 18 months and seven years, were allegedly raped by their relatives in separate incidents in Lucknow and Sitapur on Sunday.

In Lucknow, an infant was allegedly raped by her 50-yearold relative when he visited her house in Telibagh locality of PGI police area on Sunday morning.

The accused was nabbed when the girl’s parents noticed that the victim was bleeding.

He was beaten up by the girl’s kin and locals before being handed over to the police.

According to the girl’s father, the accused was his distant relative from his maternal side and had visited his house on Sunday as he had to attend a marriage in the same locality, said Arun Kumar Rai, inspector, PGI police station.

The girl’s father stated the

girl was crying when the relative was sitting at his house.

The accused took the girl in his lap to console her, took her along to a secluded place and then raped her, added the inspector.

Rai said the accused was arrested after an FIR under Section 376 of the IPC for rape and Section 3/4 of POCSO Act was registered against him.

The girl was sent for medical examinatio­n while the accused had been sent to jail after being produced in a court.

In another incident, a sevenyear-old girl was raped by her 19-year-old relative, Jagdish when the families of the victim and the accused had come to attend the marriage function at their common relative’s place in Kamlapur area of Sitapur on the intervenin­g night of Saturday and Sunday.

AK Singh, inspector, Kamlapur police station said the victim’s family stated that the incident occurred when the girl’s family was sleeping outside their relative’s house on Saturday night.

The victim lured the little girl when she suddenly woke up around 1 am.

He said the accused took the girl to a secluded spot nearly 150 metres from the house and allegedly raped her.

The family nabbed the accused after hearing the girl’s screams.

He was arrested after an FIR under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 3/4 of Pocso Act was registered, said the inspector.

Earlier, a 35-year-old Rajendra Prasad Tewari was arrested for allegedly raping an 11-yearold Dalit girl in Nigohan on April 21 while a 22-year-old youth Vikas Dwivedi was held for allegedly raping a 12-yearold girl after holding her captive in a room in Sarojini Nagar on April 20.
